Mass Effect: Batarian Propaganda

(Hello, crewmember of the SSV Normandy. It looks like something interesting has fallen into your lap as you struggle to bring the galaxy together and stop the Reapers! An extranet mail intended for a member of the Crucible project intelligence division has mistakenly been delivered to you, along with a number of classified and decrypted files!)

FROM: Yuri Koalev, Data Analyst 1st Class

TO: Lev Semerzier, Extranet Information Management Division

Lev,

During our scan of Cerberus transmissions we encountered several strange garbage files used by their DDOS scripts; files that appeared to contain strings of information associated with a Shepard VI. Normally I'd say this was a harmless coincidence - we've run into these programs before and they're usually scam artists trying to make a fast buck - but these files might bear further looking into. They're rather more professionally done than the others we've been trained to flag - by the looks of it, it's the Batarians behind it, trying to ruin Shepard's reputation after the incident in the Bahak System.

The content is... disturbing. The VI serves as a menu-driven gateway to fabricated, interactive footage of Commander Shepard and the crew of the Normandy engaged in...uh... "high risk" behaviors. The goal seems to be to destroy confidence in the Commander, her mission, her friends and allies, and turn the entire thing into a sick galactic joke. If this is going to be widely distributed by the Batarians, we might want to think about a worm or other extranet countermeasure. If you have some propaganda management toys over there, this might be a chance to put them to use.

Again, I'm moving this up the chain for your eyes only. Be very careful with this. Don't show it to anyone. I'd even recommend against informing Hackett and the other COs until you know exactly how you want to proceed. Even then, there's no need to get specific about the content. I'm not sure what to do myself, or if it even requires a response, but the content is vicious. This is why we have EIM-DIV.

PS: Make sure you work fast. We don't want word of this get back to Shepard. She's got enough on her mind and any distractions could cost us the war.
