Escaping Conflict
Okay so some time ago I had a buddy try to post this for me cause i only got a crappy phone and got no clue how to add chapters and didn't have an account either. I guess that's frowned on cause it got deleted. Anyway I think I figured out how so I'll try again. PLEASE don't delete this, I am the original author and am hoping to make this into a long series. I don't know anywhere else to post this. And to the readers I'll try to make it as canon as possible. I spent hours reading up on the covenant so I hope it paid off. This is a super short tidbit but if this is here next time I post I'll be writing about the level where the flood attacks earth in halo 3. Anyway let me know if I can stay or gotta go I value my readers' opinions. And once again admin(s) PLEEEAAAASE don't delete this. Thank you!
It amazed me how peaceful open space seemed, despite the ongoing war with the covenant that had been raging on for far too long. The phantom I had commandeered seemed to glide noislessly through the stars, despite the hum of the engine vibrating the interior of the beat down craft. I was lucky to have escaped the massive explosion of the corvette as is, even if my squad mates had all perished in the ensuing explosion. I had orders though, to report the mission successful despite what would obviously be a massive casualty report I would have to log once I reached the nearest unsc outpost. A sudden noise from the radar caught my attention, and once two others followed shortly after, I stilled the craft and made my way to the short range sensors display. I after some quick(and confusing) study and translation I managed to pick up a covenant ship following another. I was confused though when I noticed they were marked as enemies. Then I remembered about the elites' defection, and as the astroid streaked just past my ship, barely missing it in the process, I sprinted to the controls and fumbled with the communications system. I finally managed to switch it to all open channels and with shaky hands I spoke; "This is voulenteer militia Gary Reynolds, service tag G-five-four dash two-two-zero-one, attempting to establish communitions with any vessels in the immediate vicinity, please respond." There was a short pause before an irritated voice crackled through. "What is the meaning of this human? This is a restricted channel! You are advised to change to a different communications channel. Any resistance shall be met with deadly force! You have been warned." "This is an urgent message!" I protested. "There is an astroid headed in your direction, time of impact approximately seventy-five seconds. You have a one minute opening to change your flight path or you will be destroyed!" There was a tense silence before the voice came back up. "Thank you human. Your assistance is appreciated." At that point both ships came into view, and I watched fascinated as the astroid slowly ascended onto them, the first craft struck at the tail as the pursuer slowly went up out of harm's path. There was a flash as the damaged ship went through a portal, then another as the second one followed minutes later. After a moment the circular fast travel device showed up in front of me, and I rode the phantom through, eager to finally get to an outpost and rest, something I haven't been able to do in days. As earth came into view ,though, and talk of the flood chattered through the comms, my heart sank and I made a beeline for Africa, dreading what I would find once I reached the planet's surface.
