There Is No Going Back

Forward: I know Richtofen, Takeo, Dempsey, and Nikolai were first introduced in Shi No Numa, but since this is my story and Rezurrection featured these players in all 4 original WaW maps, we are going to roll with starting this train wreck at Nacht Der Untoten. Mmmmkkkaaay?

Nacht Der Untoten

My first sense that came back to me was smell. I wish it had been the last. You could smell the fog it was so thick, then there was dirt, smoke, flesh burning. I felt ill and rolled over on my hands and knees, I was dry heaving until my tears started running down my cheeks. My hearing started to return. It sounded like wounded dogs barking.

Rough hands grabbed me by my shoulders and jerked me up. I opened my eyes, but I was so dizzy. Everything was spinning. I could taste blood in my mouth and feel sweat running down my face. That was about where I blacked out.

Richtofen glared at Nikolai. Of all the patients he was left with. He could deal with Takeo, he was Japanese and on his side of the war after all. But, now Nikolai was crawling through the window and carrying the American. Why in the hell didn’t the Russian leave him for his death?

The best that Richtofen could tell, the plane they were in must have malfunctioned and they crashed. He had dozens and dozens of his experiments and patients with him. And all he was left with was three. He shook a little, he didn’t know how, but the untoten were roaming here. He did not fear death, but he was scared of losing all his work and accomplishments.

Nikolai grunted as he tried to pull the American through the window. “Hey, how about some help, da?”

Takeo was still a bit shaken, but grabbed on to the American and helped heave him through. “Was there more survivors?”

“Eh, I seen no one else.” Nikolai shrugged. He looked at the American’s tags. “Tank Dempsey” “Well, Tank Dempsey, its time to wake the fuck up.”

“Richtofen, we need to board these windows up!” Takeo yelled.

Richtofen gave him a dirty look, he would love to cut that man’s liver out for talking to him like that. But, for the sake of survival, he knew they needed to all cooperate.

Tank’s eyes shot open, his mouth was burning. Was he drinking alcohol?

“That’s the good stuff, da? You really need to get your shit together, nap time’s over. We got problems.”

“What the hell is going on?” Tank demanded.

“We were all in some sort of plane crash, and now we have enemies after us.” Nikolai stood, offering his hand to Tank.

Tank accepted the hand and was pulled to his feet. His legs felt a little weak, but at least he could stand. Or not. His knees gave out. And he fell into Nikolai, knocking him on his back. Crap, now he was on top of him. He pushed himself up on his hands.

Nikolai wasn’t sure if his heart stopped beating or if his heart was pounding out of his chest. He felt his cheeks blush deeply when Tank’s bright blue eyes met his.

Tank got up and sat back against the wall. “Ah, sorry my legs are like jelly yet.”

Nikolai stood up and brushed himself off, “Eh, don’t mention it.”

Tank looked up and seen two men walking towards them. One was a Japanese man and one was a Nazi. He immediately wanted to scream, he felt like vomiting. He didn’t remember why, but the Nazi made him want to scream in agony.

“Vhy you bring this here, Nikolai” Richtofen sneered.

“Because he was alive.”

“Hm, maybe he vill be of use.”

Boards were being tore off the window, “Qwick, er’ry one to a window!” Takeo shouted.

Tank looked out his window. There were two men limping towards him. Neither had weapons to speak of. “Hey guys, what am I seeing?”

“The untoten!” Richtofen exclaimed in joy.

Tank watched the pair get closer. There were pieces missing, flesh hanging off their bodies, and bones visible. He pulled out his 1911 and aimed it to the chest of the nearest one. He shot once, but the creature continued closer as if it hadn’t been shot. He leveled the gun to its head and shot. This time it collapsed to the ground. The second one was now at the window trying to get in. Tank pulled out his knife and stabbed it through its rotting skull and it slumped to the ground.

They continued to get swarmed by these creatures, they seemed as if they were getting faster and stronger. Takeo checked all his clips, everyone empty. “Re need to reave!”

Richtofen ran up to a door and kicked it open, “Everyone grab weapons now!”

Takeo kicked the box on the ground, weapons flashed, and finally set on a magnum revolver. “This box has no honor.”

Richtofen pulled out an Aug, smiling like a mad man.

Dempsey smiled as he eyed his new HK21 lovingly. “A real man’s toy.”

“Hey Dempsey, jealous?” Nikolai had a flamethrower in one hand and a bottle of vodka in the other.

Tank laughed. “You know that shit is flammable, right?”

“I’ve had practice.” Nikolai grinned.

They removed the debris from the stairs and all headed up. Takeo pulled a sniper rifle out of the cabinet and aimed out the open side picking the untoten off one at a time.

There was only one window in the room they were in so Richtofen defended the window while Tank and Nikolai defended the door.

They fought for hours, killing the already dead.

“We need to get the fuck out of here!” Tank yelled.

“Thanksh for pointed out the obvious, Dempshey. How exactly will we do that?” the Nazi doctor growled.

“I think I can get one of those trucks near where we first started running.” Tank said.

Nikolai started running down stairs “Come on, let’s cover him!”

There was a couple boards on the window left, Tank kicked them out and jumped out of the window. Shit shit shit! He could see the dead in the distance running at him. He jumped in the truck and shut the door. He tore the access panel off and cut a couple wires with his knife. He could hear heavy gunfire as his comrades defended him. Working the right wires together the engine turned over with an angry protest and then fired to life.

“You two jump in the back!” Richtofen yelled as he jumped in the passenger side of the truck. “Dempshey, go!”

Dempsey drove down the road for awhile. “Where are we going?”

“Just a few minutes up the road, Dempshey.”

A very plain building appeared. “Pull over.” Richtofen walked up to the door, pulled out a key and opened it. “We need to go, everyone follow me.” Richtofen smiled to himself, remembering the original construction of this place. They had come so far with element 115.

“Everyone stand in here by me.” Richtofen ordered. Everyone gathered by him on the round platform with a dome over it. Richtofen was busy punching keys while everyone else breathed in hard and deep, trying to recover.

Lights flashed and they were all constricted and sucked into blackness.
