Reisen's Revenge
It had all started with another of Tei’s pranks. Generally, these pranks led either to tripping Reisen up in a way that she ended up making a mess and getting “punished” by Eirin, or led to trouble that Tei somehow got Reisen blamed for and then “punished”; couple that with Eirin working Reisen to the bone, and Kaguya nearly always off in her own little world, and the Moon-Rabbit was nearing a breaking point. Tei’s latest prank had gotten Reisen another “punishment” (beating), and this finally shoved her over the edge.
Tei figured out that Reisen had snapped when the elder rabbit pinned her to the wall, feet dangling off the ground, with her hands wrapped around Tei’s neck, all the while explaining that she was sick of the shit she had to put up with – the pranks, the endless back-breaking work, the “punishments”, the neglect, being forced to take the blame for the younger rabbit’s mischief, and overall being treated like a dishrag. Unbeknownst to her, Kaguya & Eirin had both been nearby and heard the explanations, and were left in shock at the implications that Reisen had been punished for Tei’s actions multiple times, that she felt overworked and unappreciated, and mostly by the raw waves of fury and hate that seemed to be emanating from the Moon-Rabbit. They’d both stepped out… and saw how Reisen had been strangling Tei during the explanation, and the young girl was on the verge of unconsciousness even as tears started to fall from her eyes. The moment Reisen noticed the watchers, Eirin was subjected to the worst Death Glare she had ever seen in her over 10 millennia of life, followed by Reisen physically throwing Tei at her, knocking her over and leaving her on the ground with a gasping-for-breath and quaking-in-fear Tei on top of her, all while Kaguya stood by in mute shock. After a vitriolic, hate-filled calling-out of Eirin, Reisen had stormed out, leaving the house… and had not returned. You see, as she wandered the nearby forest, she had encountered an extraordinary chance: the opportunity to jump dimensions and join a group of heroes & heroines travelling the realms and righting wrongs. She leapt at the chance. Over the course of her adventures, she would train, she would learn, she would fight, and she would become stronger, emotionally and physically, than she’d ever been. But the three other members of her old household were left in the dust, left to stew in their guilt and shame. Until now. Now, having just assisted in saving another realm’s Earth from invasion, Reisen has to swing by her old home-realm Earth and open negotiations with some of the other inhabitants of Gensokyo, seeking their potential allegiance to the growing Dimensional Defense Force. But she must also stop by her old home. Kaguya is the first to meet her, leaving the safety of their hidden home to greet Reisen upon her arrival on the world. She throws herself at Reisen’s feet, apologizing profusely. Reisen smiles and pulls her up, explaining that Kaguya had been the only one to never abuse or be unkind to her, and thus there is no need to ask for forgiveness now that the princess-in-exile understands her wrongs and seeks to right them. But the other two members of the household will not be so fortunate. The battle against Eirin, which Reisen initiates despite the older immortal’s apologies and pleas for peace, tears up swathes of landscape and leaves Reisen the exhausted victor… too exhausted to strike a killing blow, and Eirin’s immortality prevents such from happening anyhow. She deigns to continue the fight later. But first, she has one more target. Tei, almost in tears from guilt and shame, asks if there is anything, anything at all, she can do to repent. Reisen responds with an evil grin, the long and thorough punishment already planned out in her head. This story covers that punishment. This is Tei’s repentance. This is Reisen’s Revenge. ----- This is actually a companion piece for another work of mine on another site; I will reveal which one later on. This is merely the prologue; the "action" starts next chapter.
