Upside Down
Hello everyone,
I had posted this story before, but the direction I was going with it didn’t seem to be working as well as I thought it would. So I thought and thought and I came up with a WHOLE new way to go with this story. If you’ve read this before, I did leave the prologue as it was, but the rest of the story has changed.
Anyway, as you read please leave some reviews. I’ve never written a Devil May Cry story before. I have a good friend of mine helping me here and there (mostly with Dante’s attitude and cockiness because I have trouble getting it just right) but I would love to hear the opinions and thoughts of others and even any suggestions.
Okay, enough of my rambling, on with the story.

Prologue
Rain pored down in thick sheets, instantly drenching the city. While everyone else was inside and dry, one lone figure dressed in a long crimson coat walked the streets. He welcomed the rain after being in a stuffy, humid warehouse for the last two hours. The demons he fought were a bit of a challenge, but he showed them who was in charge. His office came into view and he picked up his pace slightly, just wanting to get home, shower and finish his pizza.
When he was a block away, a scream pierced the air. It came from the alley to his right. Drawing his trusted handguns, he dashed into the alley, ready to blow off heads if he needed to. What he came upon was a group of six extremely low level demons, parading as human guys, had cornered a young woman who lies on the ground, severely beat up and not moving.
“Hey assholes!” he yelled. “Let the nice girl go, and I won’t blow your heads off…and I’m not talking about the ones on your shoulders.”
One of the guys, who was most likely the leader, stepped forward, “Yeah? And who the fuck are you to tell us what to do?”
He ignored the question, “Let her go.”
The punk pulled out a short knife, “No chance fuck-head.” He charged but was no match for the bullet that went right through his head. He turned his gun on the rest of them.
“Anyone else want to argue?”
The rest of them scattered, knowing they were no match for the newcomer. Once they were all gone, he went up the girl. He was relieved to find her alive, barely, but she still had some life. He checked her over for anything that called for the hospital but found nothing that home treatment, a safe place, and lots of rest wouldn’t cure.
He noticed her clothes were torn to shreds and little was left of them. He shrugged out of his coat and wrapped the girl in it. He picked her up, the movement causing her to wince. He looked down to find her staring wide eyed-eat him, he could see the terror in her eyes. He didn’t blame her, but he couldn’t help her if she started screaming.
“It’s okay, you’re safe,” he said. “I promise I won’t hurt you. I only hurt those who hurt others.” His answer seemed to work, the terror in her eyes went away and was replaced by relief and calmness. “You can stay with me tonight. My place is just up the block”
She nodded before her eyes closed and her body went limp. She had passed out, probably from shock. He turned and made his way back towards his office, not knowing that his world was about to be turned upside down
