- Summary:
Link is raised as a Gerudo prince, he lives happily among his sister until the True Dark Prince returns and demands that link becomes his. Nabooru fearing for her son tells him run. Afraid for his life and his freedom he runs.
Who would've guessed that he would run into love along the way?

Link&Ruto.

‘No! It’s not fair!’ Nabooru screamed in her head while she ran.
Her flaming hair chasing after her. ‘It wasn’t possible. It couldn’t be true.’

**Earlier**

Nabooru smiled after what had been two long month’s of pain.
While she and her clan had been ‘relieving’ an inhuman lord of his vast wealth. She had received a near fatal wound while defending her Gerudo sisters.

But now she was healed, safe and full of energy ready to plan their next adventure.

She relished the sun’s warmth on her skin as she smile at the sky and gave thanks to the sand goddess for her recovery.

The soft sound of patient feet reached her ears as she turned around to smile at the gracefully aged healer of the Gerudo tribe.

Nane had been head healer for the Gerudo Tribe for over half a century now. And in all her years of practices she had never come across anything so terribly difficult.

“Nane come to see the fruits of your labour.” Nabooru asked her with a slick smile. “You are truly a miracle worker Nane. I swear sometimes the goddess works through you. I barely even have a scar from were that bastards sword pierced me. And I owe it all to you Nane.” She smiled a true beautiful smile.

Nane shoulders slumped as she took to the younger girls hands in to her own withered ones.

“Nabooru… I don’t know how to begin to tell you this. I’m so sorry.”

Nabooru as though sensing some sort of danger quickly layered herself with the courage and braving that had made her the leader of the Gerudo at such a young age. “What is it Nane? Tell me quickly so we can prepare ourselves. Did you order medicines from the city and the merchant wasn’t happy with his pay? Don’t worry we can solve that quickly and easy enough.”

“No child, it’s not that.” ‘She’s so young she had only just seen her 20th celebration.’

“Then what is it Nane? I hate to see my fellow sister in pain.”

“Nabooru, your injury. It was more sever then any I had ever encountered before. There where complications, things I never wanted to do…but I had no choice. It was the only way to save you.”

“Nane what are you talking about?” Nabooru asked eyes furrowing.

“You’ve lost your ability to bear a child.” Nane said slowly letting the shock sink into the girl. “When he pierced your belly he pierced you deeply. Slicing that part of you that bares child in half. The only way I could save you was to removing it. There was no way I could save it. It was damaged be on repair. I’m so sorry Nabooru but you will never be able to bare a child.”

That was the last thing should remember. After that the word became nothing more then a spinning blur. She didn’t know how she had reached the dessert waste land, or why her knees were bruised and her knuckles were bleeding. All she knew was that she had to escape this empty void that was consuming her.

Her tried bleeding feet beg for a rest while her burning lung screamed for air but she couldn’t stop not until she was there, the one place no would be able to follow her.

There it was. She felt her determination revive its self as she saw her beloved spirit temple come into her sights.

She felt legs her fold underneath her as he stared up at the stone face of their beloved sand goddess and screamed. She screamed from the injustice of it all, the pain, the anger. All she could do or feel was the screaming she cruse the god screaming at them most of all of taking away her life, her family and now her one true wish.
To be a mother.

She screamed even when she felt her tears run down her face and tasted blood on her tongue. She would scream forever to make this pain go away.

Until another scream cut through her own. This was one angrier, with more pain and it was scared. It was begging, begging for her... to come and rescue it.

Nabooru whipped her head around and saw it in the distances a group of red-headed vultures were swooping down trying to get close enough to their prey. Except large blue sparks erupted when they got to close driving them way to circle once again. The screams where becoming more desperate. The longer she watched the smaller the sparked became and lower the devils birds flew.

Before she knew it she was on her feet again racing towards the screams.

The screams were cutting through her soul making it bleed even more, it was begging. Begging for its life. Begging for her!

One last spark now the cries were terrified. The vulture realizing its prey could
no longer defend itself release a cry of victory and swooped in to claim its prize.

There was flash of steel and a pain filled cry.

Nabooru quickly wiped the remaining blood off her dagger on the large bird feather before tossing it as far as she could. And watched as the other birds followed it, not caring about the change in the menu.

She sneered at the sight.

The crying soon caught her attention again as turn around to look for the
culprit.

There he was at her feet swaddled dirty bundle of cloth.

The child was screaming at the top of his lungs his tiny fist raised in fury. His skin was raw and blistered from the sun.

Nabooru quickly scanned the area.

Surely he mother was there. No one could just leave a child in the dessert. ‘But what if they had.’ her mind turned on her.

He was in the middle of the dessert, alone and blistered while buzzards circled him from the sky.

Another pain filled streak pulled her out of her musings.

Carefully she picked up the child. The baby was burning up. She hurried over to the cool oasis’s that was near the sprit temple.

Kneeling but the pools edge she quickly removed the baby from his bundle and laugh to see it was a boy. As gently as she could while supporting the child’s head she dipped him into the water hoping that the cool water would sooth his burning skin.

‘He is no more then an infant he couldn’t even be more then a month old.’ She though to her self and she gently splashed more water on to him.

The child seem to think I was a game gurgled happy and flapped his arms making more water splash. And he smiled a content toothless smile.

And Nabooru felt her heart swell and shatter at the same time. He would never be able to experience this she would never have a child of her own.

‘Unless you take this one.’ Her mind told her.

She looked at the child with new hope. She was alone her only wish since she was a child was to be mother. And fate had taking her away her rights of bearing one.

This child was alone left in the dessert by some uncaring who had left him there to rot in the sun and be picked clean by vultures.

Maybe fate hadn’t been that cruel to her after all. She thought with a small smile. Quickly making up her mind she decided what she was to do. Gently picking up the young babe she held him to her breast and pick up the bundle he had been rapped up in.

that’s when she noticed it. A sight the made her heart stop. On the back of the simple cloth was the symbol of the gods.

The Triforce.

Not liking being out of his cool safe haven the infant voice his complaint starting up another screaming fit.

Quickly being pulled out of her musing once again Nabooru gently tried to sooth the little one. By bouncing him on her chest.

Not wanted to be bounced the infant just screamed louder lifting his tiny fist in fury again. Revealing the Triforce make on the back of his left hand.

Nabooru couldn’t tell if she was breathing. The child was marked by the gods.

The babe continued to scream and flap his arms around like he had in the pool.

Quickly getting the message Nabooru gently dip him back into the water and watched as he cooed in contentment.

“He is just a babe and already he’s destine is marked, you poor little thing.”
Dipping the cloth in the water she wrapped in around his little from before she pulled him out.

“It’s ok little one. I will take care of you. I will be your mother and I will guide you and love you, who better to raise you then one that has been marked by the gods as well?”

With the burning of his skin gone the child’s eyes began to droop as sleep claimed his tried body.

Smiling tenderly at her new son Nabooru turned and bowed her head to the sand goddess.

“Thank you.”

A gentle whisper floated into her ears. ~ His name shall be link. ~

Nabooru raised her head to look at the statue of her goddess.

“Link?” She questioned and looked down at the sleeping bundle. “Link.” She repeated and smiled.
