Prologue
In the Human World, the world we call reality, we have an annual Valentine's Day. However, in the Dragon World, there is no such thing. Instead, every year, 1/4 of the year is devoted to the 'Season of Blossoming'. This is a time that leads up to mating season, the time when dragons look for possible mates, and true love begins to blossom from a two-way street of a crush. It is also the same time that we would call 'Spring', when the frigid temperatures lighten up, and plants and flowers begin to revive. Anyway, this year, Spyro is at quite a dilemma, for two reasons. The first reason is that he has reached sexual maturity by now, which, of course, means he can mate. That, however, leads to the true problem from which the dilemma has sprouted. He has two perfectly capable dragonesses to whom he would gladly devote his life, and both would gladly return the favor. However, making one happy would make the other disappointed, for it is not secret to anyone that Spyro is the most heroic dragon in the world. One day, Spyro was simply lounging about, when he heard two voices speaking in unison.
"Spyro, could I have a word with you? Hey, butt out, sister! No way, he loves me! No he doesn't, he loves me!" Yelled the two voices, followed by growling at each other. Spyro had been having to hear those two arguing for quite some time now, and frankly he was sick of it.
"Ember! Cynder! Knock it off! I love both of you, so it will be very hard to decide! Give me some time, ok?" Yelled Spyro. The two dragonesses then trotted over, and Cynder said,
"Spyro, you may love both of us, but it can't be an equal distribution of love, right?"
"Hey, yeah, so, who do you love more?" Asked Ember following that.
"Probably me, since he's known me longer." Said Cynder in a proud sounding manner.
"Well, you still have the grief you caused him to make up for." Argued Ember.
"Hey! I had no control over what I was doing!" Yelled Cynder.
"Right..." Said Ember.
"It's true!" Yelled Cynder.
"I doubt that!" Yelled Ember in response. The two then began growling at each other again. Spyro stood up suddenly, and began walking away. He said to the two,
"I need some time alone to think."
"About me. No he's not! Yes he is!" Said the two. Afterwards, they once again started growling at each other. Spyro's blood was boiling at this point. He turned around, and Ember and Cynder both saw his red face.
"Hey, are you alright?" Asked the two dragonesses.
"You two are acting extremely childish! Don't act like that! It makes you look like a couple of hatchlings! I'm just going to think about things that DON'T involve romance, OK?!" Yelled Spyro at what sounded like the top of his lungs. The two dragonesses gulped, nodded, and then slipped into the shadow of a cliff. Spyro then exhaled a ring of smoke, and said,
"Finally." He then retreated to Dragon Village. Later, Ignitus found him in his house, making a list. He walked over to him, and asked,
"Hey Spyro, what are you doing?"
"Trying to make the toughest decision of my life." Replied Spyro without looking up.
"And that would be...?" Ignitus asked, having been struck by curiousity.
"Who I'll have as my mate." Replied Spyro.
"And you think a pros/cons list will do any good at all?" Asked Ignitus.
"Well then, what do you recommend?" Asked Spyro.
"Well, the Season of Blossoming is just barely upon us, so I recommend doing what I did when I was your age." Explained Ignitus.
"You had the same problem?" Asked Spyro. Ignitus nodded in response.
"Yes, and I found out that probably the best way to make such a decision is to get to know both of them at deeper levels than you know them at now. At seperate times, of course. Anyway, after you do that, make your final decision, based on who you were happier with. I'd say about a week each should do it. Just let them know what you're doing ahead of time, or they might get the wrong idea." He explained.
"Ok, thanks. I'll try that." Said Spyro, his face brightened. He then set fire to the paper that he was making the list on, so no one would find out about it, and headed out the door.
"Good luck, Spyro. This is a whole new kind of adventure for you." Said Ignitus before exiting the house.
