Leon Scott Kennedy checked his straight hair in the mirror and
prepared himself for another boring meeting at the police department. It would
be yet another evening where everyone at the precinct would admit to having zero
leads regarding the new T-drug. As he grabbed his keys from the small table in
front of him, he finds a letter signed with a lipstick kiss.

I’ve got a lead.

Meet me at the Rapture club at 9.

from Ada

Leon didn’t waste a second and picked up his phone. He
dialed the number to his precinct and spoke as soon as a voice on the other end
answered, “It’s me. Something came up.” He dropped everything to make sure he wouldn’t
be too late. The club was across the city and he had to rush if he wanted to
meet her.

On approaching the club he noticed a large line sprawling
with people and three large bouncers checking everyone before they were allowed
entry. Leon parked and removed all his weapons. He opened the glove compartment
and shoved his badge in it, while taking out a pair of gray-blue tinted glasses.
Worried he would be recognized as a police officer, he put them on as he went
in line.

Leon ended up getting in the club two hours late, worried that
Ada may have already left. He made his way through the crowds and to an
upstairs lounge for a better vantage point. The smooth bass rhythm being played
made his heart shake and the throaty female singing over the music sounded like
she was on an infectious high. The place was mostly dark and foggy but every
now and then spotlights would roam over the crowd. He finally spots Ada and
runs down to her.

Leon jealously observed as Ada was sandwiched between two
men. She was dancing in a short dress that was the darkest of black, her arms
were in the air and her eyes were closed, careless of the men crowding her. Leon
roughly pulled her towards himself and glared at the other men until they
backed off. Ada continued to dance around Leon who stood still, trying his best
to look unamused.

His lips slowly parted as she slowly moved down on him,
pressing her face against his crotch area and then moved back up. Ada’s body
trembled as he held her shoulders. “Ada, stop messing around. You said you had
a lead.” Leon managed to breathe out.

She stared numbly at his lips with her dark eyes, “I don’t
recall your name.”

Leon removed the tinted glasses. “It’s me, Leon.”

“You don’t really know me.” Ada said while squinting at him.

I thought I did. Leon loosened his grip on her,
unable to come up with an answer to that.

“I like the way your body moves.” Ada said and resumed dancing.

Leon chuckled and shook his head at her random statement. He
decided to go with the flow, dancing with her. Ada faintly smelled of alcohol
and he realized she wasn’t making sense no matter what he asked. “So what have
you been drinking?”

“I just had one glass…” Ada wistfully answered while staring
at his body.

Leon rolled his eyes. “I’m sure it was.” She drank a lot of
something and they wouldn’t get any business done this way. Leon watched Ada
dance and a pleased grin slowly crept onto his face as he enjoyed it. Her body was
lightly covered in sweat and it shined whenever the light hit her.

The trancelike music slowed down and Ada closed her eyes,
turning up towards the ceiling as if anticipating something. Leon looked around
in and saw that everyone else in the club was doing more or less the same thing
while some were cheering madly. A light mist poured down from the darkness and Leon
coughed as soon as it reached his nostrils. He took out a handkerchief from his
pocket and breathed through it. “Shit.” he cursed. Ada inhaled it as fully as she
possibly could, while others in the club jumped, until the mist subsided. “I
guess that was your lead?”

“Hmm?” Ada absentmindedly looked at him with dilated pupils.

Leon noticed her eyes and examined her face with concern. "Come
on, Ada. We're getting out of here." he took her hand and put his glasses
back on, leading them out of the club.

Ada tried to slip from his tight grip as she looked back. “I
want to dance more.” she whined.

“You don’t want to dance more, it’s the T-drug speaking.”
Leon coldly said as he carefully eyed everyone working at the club on his way
out. None of the faces looked familiar or like any of the suspects on file. He
put the new faces to memory, as this must have been the most recent means of
getting people hooked. Ada has been definitely doing her homework. Just
reckless of her to get hooked herself.
Leon paused in his thinking and
chided himself. It’s my fault. I should have come sooner.

Leon placed Ada in the passenger seat of his car and buckled
her seatbelt. He noticed how she looked longingly at the club. She was
waiting for me all that time and now she’s…
Leon closed the door then got
in the driver’s seat and drove away. He leant his left arm on the window as he
normally did when driving and checked her out on every stop he made. He eventually
decided to speak when he reached the main street. “Where are you staying? I’ll
drop you off.”

Ada seemed to be staring out her window and didn’t answer.

A few minutes later he reached a stoplight and asked again. “Ada?”
Leon looked over and saw that she was asleep.

Looking at the changing streetlights ahead, Leon made the
split-second decision and turned left. Towards his hotel.
