Disclaimer:
I do not own Breath of Fire, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Born into Darkness
I don't own any characters from the Breath of Fire series.
If you're only into the smut, just go straight to chapter three. Although, you won't know why Garr is being so submissive in it.
This is my second fanfic, yay ^_^
This will have mainly plot, with smut on the side. (Unlike my first fanfic)
Please report any major spelling/grammar errors!
When there is a segment change, it indicates a significant passage in time.
This chapter isn't very long. It's only ~650 words because I didn't want to spend all day describing darkness and crap. I'm sure you'll get bored even with the short amount described === ======================
He was hurting.
The pain swelled deep into his body. He crawled blindly through the darkness, searching for existence. The cold, hard floor chilled his as as he dragged himself into the horizon of emptiness. It seemed to be a void.
He could not rationalize thought. His mind did not understand any spoken language, but it thrived in the language of emotion. He cringed into his deepest fear. The fear of finding nothing.
He would sometimes feel a certain heaviness fall upon him. His body would stop responding, and he would crumple onto the floor. His mind would drift further into oblivion, his body remaining behind. When it returned he would still be surrounded in black, and he would continue further into the darkness.
--------
He had found something. His hands were pressed against something flat, rising from the ground. Hope surged through him. He stood on his feet, his legs shaking from weakness. He pressed his body against the surface and sidled himself across, trying to find a way around it.
--------
Another one. He found another surface connected to the one he was following. Positioning himself to the next surface, he continued his path.
--------
It was endless. After every wall he would find another corner. He pounded himself against the walls, trying to break free of his prison. He fell to his knees, his headningning against the wall. His sobbing released tears of anguish and his cries echoed into the night. He huddled himself into the corner, hugging his knees. His whimpering grew louder, and in a sudden burst a rage he roared into the void with all his being. He pulled his himself closer, and let his mind drift away.
--------
He was broken. He remained in the corner with his spirit crushed. He rocked himself endlessly with his body thudding into the wall behind him. He was unable to cry any longer. He leaned his back against the wall, and stared into the empty space.
--------
He was burning. He saw something different than the dark, but it hurt him somehow. When he tried to look into it, his body would reject it, and he would return into the darkness. Something was touching his skin. He savored the warm touch, and moved towards it, leaving the cold walls behind. He felt the warmth, and embraced it. The warmth lifted him to his feet and covered his eyes. He wrapped both of his arms around it and felt himself move with it.
He would follow the warmth, even if it led him further into the darkness.
--------
He felt different. After letting his mind wander away, the warmth was gone. However, he was left with something else. A different kind of warmth covered him. He felt like he was floating, for the surface beneath him was soft and filled him with comnort. He did not want to move. He was afraid that if he left, he would never be able to return.
--------
He was discovering the trick that would lead him out of the darkness. After every attempt, he would be able to see for a longer period of time. His first tries just resulted in jolting him away, back into the emptiness. He was now able to glimpse at things other than the light.
--------
He could finally keep his eyes open. His gaze drifted across the room, inspecting the inanimate objects. He squinted at the light pouring in from the window. One of the objects moved towards him from it's stillness, and he cowered back in fright.
It towered over him, arms crossed. It's face pressed near his.
"You are now Garr. You will call me Gaist."
With that said, Gaist left, and Garr's fear passed.
His eyes started to strain, so he closed his eyes.
He would surely die if he awoke to the darkness again.
