Tracking Bloodstains

Kain’s mouth had a distinctly downward tinge to it.

“So,unknunknown Vampire is trekking the lands and killing at
whim?”

“At whim is the not way I would put it,” drawled Zephon,
“More like every single Vampire she encounters,”

“And she displays powers unlike any we’ve seen before?”

The spy shrugged.

“They say she can manipulate shadow to her will, destroy
gates with her bare hands and make anything worship her,” a small smirk, “And
then there’s the sword,”

“The sword?” Kain looked intrigued.

“At first glance, there is nothing special. Go jewels, no
gold. It’s metal, plain and simple. It should have no effect, theoretically.
Yet it does. It slices off flesh and it cannot be re-grown. It dissects beasts
and their spirits seem to vanisZephZephon shrugged again. “It sounds like myth,
yet the evidence…”

He waved at the corpse below. It was a mortal, the eyes
wide, face frozen in a parody of a smile. His skin looked dehydrated, his lips blue
from suffocation.

And there were two, tiny pinpricks on the side of his neck,
from which rusted blood ran.

“Yes. Indeed. You are dismissed, Zephon,”

“My lord,” the lieutenant bowed himself out.

Kain leaned back and tried to figure out the puzzle.

A female Vampire who kills anything that gets in her way.
He mused. She can control shadows…it appears she can give them corporeal
form. At least,
he amended, looking at the corpse, enough substance to
suffocate a mortal. She has a power that draws sheer adoration and
hero-worship, and the ability to destroy walls barehanded. And a sword…
he
remembered a saying he’d heard once.

“A simple sword in the hands of a truly brave man can destroy anything,”

Kain snorted.

Evidentially, the woman is truly brave.

An ugly smile twisted his lips.

Or truly foolish.

As it turned out, it was neither.

A/N: Next chapter introduces Faith. Before you think this is
gonna be huge, it depends entirely on what you guys want. You guys want a long
story that has a huge finale, fine. You guys want a short story, good by me. It
works either way, but it means I have to cut out some plans. So review and tell
me what you .

And sorry for the short chapter. I just need to introduce
the idea first.
