this was really interesting. and different, hah, very different. I've got to give you mad props on lore though, I really enjoyed how well you captured the "insanity" or whatever perverseness infects the black dragonflight. Sytherious hardly comes across as evil, but he's obviously very ammoral, and gets the attention of the reader very quickly! and you leave a lot to the reader's imagination, like what form Sytherious takes, emphasizing only the grittiest details. plus, I mean, hey, Zakariastraz is clearly just as freaky as the black dragon and likes having someone he can claw and tear at too, which in my mind just rockets the cool factor of the story up by 1000. it was a fun read!
